The Philippines Community Board of Telus International, one of the leading BPO companies in the country, has awarded grant to Saint Mary Euphrasia Integrated Development Foundation (SMEIDFI) for the project “Supporting Development of Survivors of Trafficking and Abuse Through Education and Skills Building” to support the programs for the girls and women in shelter care and community-based programs.
Telus is a pioneer in the global BPO industry with over 12,000 team members in five sites all over the country, representing companies in telecommunications and utilities, high-tech and gaming, financial services, retail and e-commerce, healthcare, and travel and logistics industries with presence in Philippines, Guatemala, El Salvador, Romania, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. Through their Community Board, Telus engages in providing short grants with big impact, engaging in communities in the principle of “we give where we live”.
The project will aid in supporting girls and women to have a chance to develop their knowledge and skills while still undergoing healing and rehabilitation in the shelters and community-based setting. Girls and women who experienced abuse and violence are provided with life skills and other learning venues to promote and uplift dignity and self-worth. Depending on their willingness and capacities, they will undergo home schooling, alternative learning, skills training, and values formation activities.
